The mkiii had different engines, with 1670 hp https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Hercules_XVI , an increase of 150 hp per engine if I remember correctly resulting a top speed near 280 or so. The upper turret was changed to a FN5 Finished FN5 turrets, front and rear - YouTube. The engine changed required different carburetor intakes, and oil coolers. Minor all in all so a quick fix up. If the Stirling did not have it wings clipped (silly RAF the hangars at the time had doors of 100 feet width) the plane would have been one of the best produced as the shortened wings resulted in high wing loads and lower maximum altitudes, although the plane was very nimble for a 4 engine one..
