Thread: Migration Tool?

    Migration Tool?

It may seem a strange question, but are we allowed to discuss the Migration Tool here? I asked a very basic question about the tool over at Avsim, and the thread was immediately locked. It seems there's stuff going on in the background about this product that us mortals are not privy too;-)
I don't want start asking for input and help if the subject is a 'no go' area, but the 'official' support forum seems about as much use as a chocolate tea pot;-)
    Thanks

Do you mean the Estonia migration tool? This is a commercially available product.
As far as I'm concerned there is no problem with asking questions, as long as the question does not involve any license problems or violations.
If it does or drifts in that direction along the discussion, we'll pipe up and the thread might get locked.

Yes, the Estonia Tool, and no nothing like that Mark - thanks.

I have P3Dv3.1 and FSX-SE installed, and having bought, installed and run the tool, I now cannot run FSX at all:-( Doesn't matter if its enabled or disabled, FSX remains 'greyed out' and the tool won't let it start. I've even tried uninstalling the tool, but i'm still left dead FSX, although P3D is still good.

    Anyone got any ideas please?

    Hi,

Just a word of warning on this tool as it pertains to MV products. Use of this tool will break our products in P3D so you will have to disable it to use ours.

    Thank you

Used this tool to load FSX planes on P3D v3.1, quite satisfied with results. No longer using FSX Simulator...

That's a valuable information, thanks for mentioning this, Kat. I have the migration tool but never used it, and since I have a few very cherished MV releases, this will keep me from using it.

@ Dougal: Flightsim Estonia has a support forum at http://board.flightsim.ee/, if nobody can help here, you could post your issue there or open a support ticket with them. If the issue gets solved, it would be nice if you could report it back to this thread. Just for the search engine, so it doesn't lead to dead ends.

This looks interesting. Does it make cockpit switches which work in FSX but not in a "normal" installation to P3d work again?
Rats - why won't anything work properly first time?

Not sure I'll keep this installed. It can make quite a mess of just about any installation!

I had it first while I still had FSX installed and had just started using P3D when ver2.0 was released. Despite each sim being on separate drives, it played havoc with scenery files and other portions of FSX to the point that I quit using it. Took me awhile to get everything back and straight again.

When I uninstalled FSX and only had p3D it worked great to get installers to work that only wanted to install to FSX. Now however with a lot of developers coming out with dual installers for current and even some previous releases (such as Orbx), it makes the EMT obsolete.

For anyone considering this software, here's something else of note: Its been 4 days since I posted on their forum and sent an official support ticket, and I've still had no response
