This post is about the first aircraft to be specifically designated as "Air Force 1", and not the first aircraft to carry a president. While it's a shame that this piece of history is in the condition it is, there are two other Connies that share this bit of history that are preserved.

The first aircraft to carry a sitting US President was a Boeing 314 "Dixie Clipper" with FDR. The first designed aircraft intended to carry the president was a C-87 that the Secret Service rejected, leading to the "Sacred Cow". "Air Force One" is the radio call sign designating the US Military aircraft carrying the President. That was first used in reference to the Connie. The First President to fly was Theodore Roosevelt in a Wright biplane on October 11, 1910, after he left office.

Once again you are missing the point. This specific Connie was the very first aircraft to have the honor of using the call sign "Air Force One..."
