    How Good Is It?

I'm wondering how this compares with Vladimir Zhuhulskiy's Mi-8. I think it would be hard to beat that one.

I prefer this new one, only advantage Mr Zhyhulskiy's model has is plenty of paints, this one so far has only one.

According to the comments written at Avsim.su, there are a couple of repaints available.
They were apparently posted by mistake into a wrong category. (RC Helicopters?).
Anyway, I've searched the whole site and can't find them...
I agree, the external model is extremely well done. Not sure about the unusable 2D cockpit though.
The 3D view is very nice with plenty of switches to play with.
As for the flight dynamics, I would suggest to start on 'easy' FS settings, she is quite a handfull.

Thanks for the heads up. I just downloaded it.

I'm a bit confused by the "gauge (sp)" folder with several folders within as well as individual gauges. Anyone sort if out?

I think those folders are something like unpacked gauge .cab archives, so just copy those folders to your panel and it should be fine.

Im not sure if anybody noticed, but at russian avsim waits updated package which includes more paints and models, there's a little mess with sound and panel files, just copy them from first model to other ones and download fix on top, i think its best Mi-8 for msfs so far, pleasant too look at and pleasant to fly.

I agree with you Kikas, this updated 'final' package is very nice indeed.
Some of the details are stunning, such as the animated rotorhead.
There are also several different models with 12 liveries.
When correctly installed (quite a nightmare), each helicopter boasts 210MB! That's 2.5GB for the lot...
2D and 3D panel are now working correctly. There is no English 'readme' file, so getting used to the operational procedures is all trial and error.
The only issue I have is the animated pilot. He looks like he's trying to catch a fly on the overhead panel.
Overall it's great, flies well and is framerate friendly.
Thumbs up from me! Well worth putting in the hangar.

    Hi Roland,

It's the second download on this page: http://www.avsim.su/f/fs2004-vertoleti-35/
The first is an mdl correction.

Something has gone awfully wrong with the 'modelled' rotor animation.
The author suggests to switch off the AA within FS, but it still makes no difference!
Otherwise the Mi-8P is not bad at all...
