Project Scorpion..new combat sim development project

    Gents:
As part of a vast modding community, we began to realise the need for a realistic combat flight simulator. Therefore, in the spirit that this community has fostered, we have taken it upon ourselves to get the ball rolling in creating one.
Our remit is for a combat flight simulator created by the modding community itself. This approach will allow the creation of something special. In essence a simulator that goes beyond what development houses think we want to something that we need, something that we are all passionate about. A true combat flight simulator. We intend to bring our fellow simmers the realism of FSX but with the addition of armaments and convincing combat and non-combat scenarios.
Our initial goal is place our combat simulator within the Korean theatre of operations, faithfully re-creating the aircraft of the time and placing the pilot within aircraft from both sides of the conflict. Flying on a variety of realistic missions over beautifully created landscape, the pilot will become absorbed within a truly remarkable experience.
Our development team is uniquely equipped to begin creating our simulation. Many of us are seasoned simmers, and our membership has a real interdisciplinary and international flavour. Many of us have served in the military and have had hands-on experience with the aircraft that we will create. All of us however have a passion for this project. We have been working hard on this venture and we now feel that it is time to open our doors to the wider modding community.
A simulation created by the community for the community, we want you to become involved. We have our own 3d studio who are busy creating resources for use within the simulator, and although our team is busy they need your help. We are therefore looking for those of you who can take on work to ease the load on the 3d studio. We also have our own ‘sim engine’ and need extra coders to help move the project along. But don’t worry if you have little programming or modding experience and want to help in this exciting project. We need people who are as passionate about this undertaking as we are. If you have an interest in the history of the conflict, of the technology involved, or the events that transpired, please contact us. We aim to make this the start of something that we can all contribute to and take pride in.

If you are interested please visit HERE and post in the thread.

PS: I will be involved in this project, in a personal level.

    Best regards

Wohoo! I've always wanted this, but I always thought it would be too exhausting to actually happen.

Ok, this sounds interesting ?, it'd be interesting to know what tools we'd need to supply content, is the game engine based on FSx or a totally different platform, what does it support and more importantly what does it not support ?.

Seems like the blog link is down Ron.

I myself have begun looking at game engines too.... tired of waiting for another naval combat simulator. So have been doing some research myself.
