    CV-3 Saratoga BGL

for those who might be interested,
today, No Dice uploaded the new and improved
    CV-3 Saratoga BGL to the Free Flight Site;

    http://www.thefreeflightsite.com/Smilos.htm

apparently, the old version was next to impossible
to land on in multi-player missions.
also, there were numerous visual bleeds.

this version has been completely reworked
    with scasm by hubbabubba.
    many thanks, hubba.

    features include;
-with a headwind added with cfo,
she will now, turn into the wind.
no matter what direction you select.
    preferably, 360*, 270*, 180*, or 90*
-there are several runway heading options
    available so that your aircraft
will sit on the deck facing into the wind.
-she now only comes with a wake
to avoid any confusion in multi-player.
the wake also provides an extra visual
to aid in lining up your approach.
-adf is set to 903, range is 90knm.

for those who may have downloaded her
    prior to today, 03-02-2013,
    please, delete the old file
    and download the new version.
i'm sure you will find it,
    a marked improvement.

What makes the old Saratoga difficult to land on?
    What goes wrong?

    honestly, i don't know.
i have a heck of a time landing on her, too.
but i don't fly that much any more.
    practice, practice, practice.

after her introduction to the aac a few weeks back,
i was informed that very few pilots
    were able to land successfully.

possibly, she was scaled to small.
    now, she is huge.
also, the parts were a bloody mess.

The both of you did a great job, we all thank you.

The PTO is somewhat different for CFS1, yet with artists like yourselves,
Ivan and others...who knows ,this could be interesting to see how far ya'll
will continue to stretch the limits.

Thank you all for all of your additions to CFS1 ,

would you please do me a favor?

download and install the latest version of the Sara.
then, check and see if there is a wake.

please let me know if you see it or not.

    Here is the problem,
If you are lazy like me, you downloaded the new file and simply placed the bgls in the old scenery folder,
That will not work, delete the contents in the scenery and texture folder of your old version and replace
all with the new. Plus it is no longer found under CVS-3, it is found under USS Saratoga.

    The wake will now show.

it seems that the old version BGL files
have different names than the new version.
overwriting the old files with the new
will not work and the scenery path
will still point at the old files.
therefore, you must delete the old version,
    then install the new version.

    sorry about that...:redf:

    Hi guys

The problem "aviators" had with the previous version is that it was too short. At scale 1 - she uses normal scaling - she's just a bit longer than the HMS Ark Royal. The "new and improved" version is at scale 2, twice the size of the previous one.

Many people will tell you that they've "made it" on the good old Ark, but this is more a bragging right (I've done it myself BTW!!!) than a routine operation.

By WWII era, arresting cables was the norm, and "unaided landings" were the exception.

At scale 2, landing on her is still quite an accomplishment, but until we have "navalized" a few aircraft for our AAC games, she will help in the certification of men and machines for deck duties.
Torture numbers and they'll say anything.
