Power Supply Question

Do you guys think 750W is sufficient for these parts:

Q9550 (going to overclock to 3.X)
ASUS Rampage Formula Motherboard
WD Caviar Black 500 GB
WD VelociRaptor 300 GB
4 GB 1066 DDR2 OCZ Ram
EVGA GTX 260 core 216 Superclocked
Antec 900 Case
Xigmatek S1283 Fan

I'm hoping it is... I don't want to go any higher than 850W though. Should I go for the 850 over the 750 or is it not necessary?

It not so much wattage as it is up front usable amperage. For instance you will want at least 20A on each rail upfront. Higher is even better. I have a PC Power and Cooling 610W that puts 30A up front and runs an E8600, 4GB OCZ DDR2-1200, HIS HD4870OC, X48MB, 2RAID RAPTORS, 1 500GB External, and one other 640GB storage. All OC'd to 3.8GHz and the power specs never drop. I can still add one more video card in CROSSFIRE. Look for 80+ efficiency at Peak Power certified. Unfortunately there are a lot of 750 and 850 PSUs that don't last long because they are poorly made.

A 450W PSU would be well enough for your purposes, unless you don't want to go SLI (which FSX doesn't support anyways).

That Thermaltake is way too much over the top in any case. It would be like paying a beer with a $500 bank note.
You could take a look at some of the Enermax models with modular cable management. They're said to be of excellent quality and not too expensive. A 500W version of one of them would make you sleep well at night without stressing your power bill too much.

The rest of the components look fine. If you want to go into extreme OC ranges (3.6-3.8Ghz) though, you should go for some high-quality memory (à la Corsair Dominator).

My system (see signature) is similar to yours and powered by a 520W Coolermaster Real Power Pro M, btw.
