That is funny, I never knew they grew tulips in the UK as well. As my area is quite dense populated, the flower bulb culture has moved a bit North. I have cycled through East Anglia during late spring/early summer (quite a) few years ago, but didn't see any flower fields.

As transport costs are increasing, a lot has moved to the US as well. This is most probably the largest market for flower bulbs.

It is centred around Spalding in Lincolnshire. Very flat country there, they call it the Fens because the area used to be flooded; the Romans did some drainage but proper drainage started in the 1600s, mainly by engineers from the Low Countries (hence the windmill in that first picture). The area is now known as South Holland, there has been a parliamentary seat with that name (South Holland and the Deepings) since 1997. Lovely area, this time of year, not so lovely later when they switch to brassica.

The area looks so beautiful this time of year in the sim, ... I can only imagine how much nicer it must look in real life.

Really impressed by the quality of the displayed aircraft and landscape. Only disappointing are the odd dark "stripes" which are gashing the landscape. Are those small flumes inspired by ORBX vector maybe? Should not be enabled when TrueEarth is in use...
Apart from that....fantastic shot!

Hi Manfred,

I am not really sure why the 'stripes' are there. A couple are also visible in Huub's sim pic (post #14349 on the previous page). Based on Huub's real shots, I suspect them to be water channels - maybe for irrigation ? I have Orbx Global, Vector, OpenLC EU, and HD Trees in this area. No TrueEarth. Up close they are little streams in the sim landscape. Probably another feature added by Vector.

Personally I think this a somewhat undervalued model.

The freeware T6-G Texan by Warwick Carter, Dave Eckert and Michael Flahaut. And the and credible repaints and paintkit John Terrell made for it, did really make it come alive.

When you don't have it installed yet, it really is a must have!
