Fifty years ago on April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin lifted off in Vostok I and made the first successful flight of a human in outer space.
A toast to Colonel Gagarin and the Vostok I support crew.

As the Russians say : Hurra ! hurra ! hurra !
And a little thought to Alexei LEONOV still alive,

Those Russian rockets always remind me of the Tintin books!
100 years of powered flight/50 years of space flight...wonder which is the bigger leap?
EDIT: Shot from the ISS, First Orbit is a movie tribute to that first flight:

Yes but you can see them elsewhere than in the Tintin comics, the Soyuz launchers bring supplies to the ISS and will work in a partnership with Arianespace. From Baikonour they can launch 1.5 tons satellites, but near the equator they can launch 3 tons ! .This will complete the offer beetween the VEGA and ARIANE 5 rockets.
