Small singe-engine civil plane and it was used in Biafran War
Von Rosen and his five aircraft launched attacks against Nigerian air fields at Port Harcourt, Enugu,Benin and other small airports. The Nigerians were taken by surprise and a number of expensive jets, including a few MiG-17 fighters and three out of their six Ilyushin Il-28 bombers, were destroyed on the ground.

Curtiss R-2 & JN-2 aircraft from the 1916 Punitive Expedition into Mexico.

May not be the most rare or unusual aircraft but this period in American military aviation has always held a special spot in my life long love of aviation.

I've mentioned this before in another thread or two but the young pilot mentioned in the story, Captain Benjamin D. Foulois was a friend of my family and an occasional dinner guest over to the house when I was about 10 years old. We were stationed at Andrews AFB at the time.

I vividly remember him telling stories about learning to fly from the Wright Brothers.

You really don't have to go "back to the future" to pick a candidate.

How about one from the current war that I think few know about?

    The Comp Air 7.

    http://www.aerocompinc.com/airplanes/CA7/index.htm

It was one of the very first aircraft to fly with the new Iraqi Air Force post-Saddam Hussein.

So, it has history behind it, it is general aviation themed so it will fly rather nicely in FSX, and it is unique -- at least in terms of payware in FSX.

I have a weird knack for early Pacific warbirds... P-36, P-39, P-40, F4F, TBD, SBD, Boomerang, Hurricane.
In this regard a TBD Devastator would be my kind of choice.

I also have a knack for Vietnam warbirds which flew in the "other theaters", so Ravens, Air America, Bird Air and anything that flew out of "Naked Fanny" (Nakhom Phanom).
    Helio Courier or CH-34 maybe.

Cold war era bombers would be quite interesting, B-47s, B-50s, B-36s..etc. I bet A2A could do a wonderful B-50 since they already have some of the systems and modelling done from the 377. Maybe a B-29/B-50 package or somthing.

    Cheers

the cold war produced many new designs, some that were never put into production, but it is interesting how many advancements we made during those years, but i guess when you are trying to out-do another superpower, miracles will happen

Icon5 For me the Saro Lerwick

For me it has to be the Saro Lerwick, as I now have many in side images of the aircraft, a long with many external shots. See here on my web page for more info of the only 21 aircraft made. Click on any image to enlarge.

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/clippers/in_memory.htm

So if any wants to make, please.

I'd support the Lerwick. I'm a sucker for floaters.

Well, looks like i will be looking at everything between the World War 2 and the end of the Cold War periods (Including Korea and Vietnam). Thanks for everyone who voted and gave out some aircraft ideas. I will look into them. Thanks again!

I thought that in the closing days of WW2,the Nazis ,in desperation, put out the most exciting, and innovative planes of all.The Military Channel, often shows that effort..with on the spot film....Rocket,Jet,Stealth,swept back wings, all the stuff of all our ,and Soviet new technology to come after WW-2......it seems the moon was possible to visit ,thru this German technology, born in war.!..Most often in a cottage industry enverment!...It seems War accelerates mans ability to wipe us all out......Like splitting the atom, also born in War and,on the Nazi calender.Makes "D" day most important!!.However when used in more peaceful methods, its still is a remarkable thing!!....This to me is a very interesting time in Aviation, the closing days of WW2,on all sides!!!

Douglas A-20. Ok, not so rare, but we don't have one, and it's a cool plane!

That sums it up for me too (With a slight change. )

Anything else from the inter-war period that was built by Fokker or Koolhoven will do fine too.
