    RE: Mystery Ship

.....Can you name this mystery aircraft?
    Hints:
-It was a conglomerate of parts and looked it!
-First designed as an interceptor but changed
to a long distance escort aircraft.
-Manufacture's name not all that familiar
-Prototype first flew in November of 1943
    -Had an Allison engine
    -Six were only produced
-Eventually canceled due to underachieved test
    results. Truly an ugly duckling.

Well done Quicksand. That's correct,... it was the Fisher P-75 Eagle. :ernae:
Boy,...I'll need to dig a bit deeper next time for more obscure aircraft!

I just read thru a book that had a short history of this bird, Brad. If not for that, I never would have known...

They recently restored one at Dayton-Wright. A sleek looking ship I think!

I knew they had been restoring it, but wasn't aware of it's completion. It probably never looked that good!

If I recall correctly, that airplane has been crashed a few times.

The design was intended to utilize parts from other airplanes.

For flightsim, I believe Tim Conrad did one back in the FS2000-2002 days. I modified it for CFS2. It was pretty cool.
