The Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles is a must for any aircraft enthusiast. I was there last summer and spent all day. Anyone with a camera will go crazy. I took about 400 digital pictures myself.

    Thanks for posting the site.

I notice that every single machine that originally rested on tires, (except one helicopter) is lifted up from the floor by about an inch or less with what look like metal supports.

Would this be an effort to preserve the tires?

Its a not so well known fact that the Smithsonian floods twice a year during the rainy season. Its only 2 inches, and it helps facilitate cleaning of the floors as it washes away oil and litter left behind. The helicopters can just hover in place during these wet periods.

I go there at least 2-3 times a year (on vacation/holiday trips) and love it every time.

    Lovely pic.'s! :salute:

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

    Thank you very much.

Without a doubt, one of the finest, if not THE finest aircraft collection in the world! We had a family friend who was one of the Smithsonian's curators, and we were privileged to tour the Garber Restoration Facility, which is as facinating as the museum itself. The amount of meticulous work and research that goes into each and every aircraft is mind boggling! Of particular interest are the amazing artifacts that are displayed amongst the aircraft. What history! Udvar-Hazy is a MUST SEE for anyone who loves airplanes! :USA-flag:

    Oh wow.

I wonder how much drool they have to mop up every evening?
I'm pretty sure after I'm done with my visit there, they'll have to get me to the ER for life-threatening dehydration. :d

Jens Kristensen did a 307 for 2004/FSX. Yeah, it's a port, but it flies well in FSX and looks pretty good.

    It's b307_v11.zip at Flightsim.
