Just my opinion that they always (or at least usually) look better in their original military colour schemes. And it does seem to be the USA that leads the world in customised liveries... not sure why!

Maybe the simple logic would be that we have a gazillion more private ones here , then anywhere else. They should be entitled to paint the quarter million+ dollars purchase as a pink chinese SU27 if they please. Sry it was such an eyesore that you had to point it out just after i posted those last shots ,but I will sure take your observation in consideration ,no more fictional stuff to keep your distress level induced by US artistic sense , to a minimum.

You know it wasn't meant to be a dig at your paints. I just brought it up as it was the first time I'd seen a lot of these N registered liveries, that's all.

yup ceasefire, Tweek does it matter how they paint their aircraft? my point being the red arrows are the display team of the RAF not part of the RAF in essence, pilots are military, hawks military, paint scheme designed by Babcock Defence Services (the addition of the logotype)... all in all the paint on a red arrow is not military but civilian... this in your books it'd class as fictional anyways now its a ceasefire we can focus on how good these textures are and we can even talk about personal schemes being applied sort of 'if you owned one, how would it look?'

You said cease fire, so I won't answer that!

Lets get back to the painting shall we? Might even crack out the brush, myself.

Hey Yago, great paints as always. As for info on the VMA-133 L-39, I believe this is the owner: http://www.airportjournals.com/Displ...?varID=0505007

Edit: Marines really used czech trainers???
    I fly,when I try a paint on..that,s why it takes a bit longer.My FSX starts pretty slow.

About downloads, since I made them so quick,i need a bit of time away from those paints so I can look at them with "new eyes " . It,s when I find flaws and make correction.Maybe this week-end I,ll have something up.

    Marines and L-39,s.Why not.

Tpet, thx for the link,Tweek it, a very easy model to repaint, the paint kit it,s fantastic.Spray some paint on the base layer and the kit will do the rest..Lotus ,thanks again and again.

Bob Lutz owns that L-39 ? How awesome is that !
    I,ll shut up now..

Never really cared about the L-39 much I'm surprised who wide spread it is these days. It even made it to Afghanistan...

And there are a lot of nice paint schemes around. Looking forward to the wonderful paints in the making. Great work!

By the way, is there a way to cure the DXT-compression-issue with the red racer? It seems like FSX switches to a lower res mip very often displaying a lower res (512 or 256) res texture. And paints with red/black combinations are very prone to ugly compression artifacts - just like blue/yellow. The camo schemes look perfect, on the racer and the Breitling one you can spot compression squares easily.

About marines and L-39 I just wondered because they could have chosen something ... more NATO like the HAWK or AlphaJet. One the one hand it's nice to see that ex "communist" planes are used now but on the other hand it still looks strange to my eyes. I couldn't get my head around the USAF using the Mig-29 for example.

Please anybody would have links to download skins for the L-39 ?

    Thank's for all, Olivier.

I'm sure the L-39 skins could be uploaded here at SOH. Afterall, it looks like she's found a home here at SOH.

Well, it was produced and exported in large numbers. Are available for sale because are fazed out and replaced ,Romanian ZA,s are for sale here in US for about 300,000 $ for exmple, wich is very cheap for a military jet .Others donated or sold them to Afghan AF as I can see..
Performance wise was pretty modest if compared with other similar trainer less famous aircrafts, from ex socialist block I.A.R 99 Soim comes to mind.
I,m sure USA has evaluated almost everything that has wings or not. At one point they all had USAF markings for a brief period:,Su- 27,Mig15,21,29 ,Hind etc..

Olivier, les repaints ne sont pas encore sortis. Faudra patienter un peu.

    Jean-Paul

Sorry guys, I only told Olivier in French that the repaints weren't available yet. You didn't miss anything.

    Hello,
This wait is difficult because these skins are very beautiful and the creator of L-39 offered us a true present before Christmas because since I bought this addon I spend many hours to be piloted L-39.

A big bravo to the creator of this wonderful addon.

In French: Salut Jean-Paul je suis trčs heureux de faire ta connaissance et merci pour ton aide.
In English: Hello Jean-Paul I'm very happy to meet you and thank's for your help.

Best regards and once again great and nice work for this addon and for your skins everybody.
    Olivier.

The marine paint looks like the owner regrets buying the L-39 and should've bought an A-4 Skyhawk

Hi Oli. On the racer, if you look in the end of the manual I've indicated there how to use textures without mips for Pipsqueak. They are contained in a separate folder within Pip's texture folder. That will help clean up the compression artifacts, but they may shimmer a little as a result. Unfortunately DDS texture compression kind of hates diagonal lines with extremely high and sharp colour contrast. This could be cured I suppose with 32 bit textures, but my primary goal for this aircrraft was high framerate performance, and in some cases a compromise like this was neccessary. 32 bit would slam the performance pretty hard.

    Cheers,

    -Mike

@yago9: Is that pic from FSX (a repaint) or a real photo. I looked at it for a long time but I honestly can't say. Some things point towards photo but when I look at your paints I'm simply not sure...

@Lotus: Just stumbled about that subfolder, gonna test it out now. I know what you mean, I've had a few problems on diverse paints with high-contrast lines and curves. Really a pain in the butt. What helped a lot was using higher res textures (2048 square) with DXT-compression. I tested that out on a paint of my Stratocruiser. There was no fps-difference when changing size vs a noticeable one when changing to 32bit. Not sure, but FSX does not react so much in respect to the texture size at it does react to compression/32bit. And on 2048-sized textures those issues were practically invisible.

    Nice plane, and nice paints!

yago9, can I ask a download link for the Hungarian sharknose's paint? I'm working on this plane in the real life as a mechanic, and I would like to try it...

In the HunAF, we have an another nice paint: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Hunga...35e3b3b0224136

I could send more photos from my archives, if you want to paint this too...

Probably a long shot but does anybody have an underside shot of this Lithuanian example?

    http://www.airliners.net/photo/Lithu...ros/1531056/L/

Also, any idea what the font used for the 16 is?

  24. #374
Underside = same blue as fuselage with lithuanian markings, as for the 16 not a clue on font but you can probably hand draw it in 5 minutes flat... its the Lithuanian Trainer aircraft scheme i believe.

  25. #375
Ah yes. Looking at the second photo I can just about see the Lithuanian roundel on the other wing aswell. Cheers!
