Thread: MAW temporary download location

I will try dl this set and install. I have the original set from the old site and maybe i can find those missing or broken files.

Eliya that looks like one of the files for a CVA(Carrier) set of files, i will see if i can find that for that ship, i am not sure which ship model they used but i have most of the naval assets developed for CF3 and the original files for this mod.

    will try today.

btw, in case anyone is looking for good references on this Theatre of Operations, here are some good refs i found:

Africa to the Alps: The Army Air Forces in the Mediterranean Theater, Russell, Edward T., and Johnson, Robert M.

The Army Air Forces in World War II, Volume 2: Europe: Torch to Pointblank, [The Army Air Forces in World War II]
The Army Air Forces in World War II, Volume 3: Europe: Argument to V-E Day, [The Army Air Forces in World War II]
Coningham: A Biography of Air Marshal Sir Arthur Coningham, Orange, Vincent.
Fueling the Fires of Resistance: AAF Special Operations in the Balkans During World War II, Leary, William M.
A Pattern for Joint Operations: World War II Close Air Support—North Africa, Mortenson, Daniel
The Royal Air Force, 1939-1945, Volume 1. Fight at Odds, Richards, Denis.
The Royal Air Force, 1939-1945, Volume 2. Fight Avails, Richards, Denis and Hilary Saunders.
The Royal Air Force, 1939-1945, Volume 3. Fight is Won, Saunders, Hilary St George.

and here are the actual British Cabinet Papers reports on signicant battles in the Med:

I made a little DVD cover set for MAW it will fit the thin type game boxes for DVD's, front and back and spine, it is made in two pages so you can print it on normal 8 x 11 paper. Nothing fancy but a small thank you for all the hard work on this great mod.

has anyone made any splash screens for MAW? i havent found any yet...still looking.

    Maw installtion problem

I had MAW installed last year. Everything was fine until I tried Quick Combat other than Free Flight. (Needless to say, I see the answer to that problem in this thread;-)

Anyway I did a complete de-instal of MAW and CFS3. Recently, I did a clean installlation of CFS3. When I try to install MAW the process starts as it should.

Then I get to the HTML line (paraphrasing here-no screen shot) "overwrite all MAW Files blah, blah, blah......ending with<Yes/No/All>_ (flashing cursor)

Nothing happens after that although when I move to exit it assures me that it's still trying to instal...it's not.

The file I have is not corrupted as I took it to work and installed both CFS3 and MAW. When the Maw installation got to the above mentioned line here at work, it paused briefly and then continued on to a completely successful intsallation.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Mathias, it's good to see you still hanging around. I'm still using our favourite cockpit as my Avatar after all these years:mixedsmi:

    Cheers.:ernae:

Cheers membrain, good to see some of the old folks still hanging out here.
I have to admit though my CFS3 days are over apart from the rare shoot-em-up every couple of month.
I turned over to the dark side (FSX + payware) doing stuff like this:

    (sorry for the shameless plug)
Wish I could help you with your problem but I've never seen that before.

Choose "enemy fighter" first in quick combat. When flying intercept or escort, also choose "bomber" first.

Had a look at your 190 Cockpit Mathias. Beautiful. I still love the Bf 110 cockpit that you made however. It's the best one in CFS3 that I've seen. (My system won't run FSX) Good to know that it's paying off for you.

Italflyer. I appreciate the comment but to do as you suggest I need to have MAW instaled and my problem is that it won't install.

"When I get to the HTML line (paraphrasing here-no screen shot) "overwrite all MAW Files blah, blah, blah......ending with<Yes/No/All>_ (flashing cursor)" then nothing happens.

Frankly, if Mathias hasn't run across this before, and he's one of the key developers of MAW, then I'm stuck. But if anyone else has a suggestion to help solve my problem I'd be thrilled. I'll try and get a screen shot tonite.

    Cheers:isadizzy:

I wouldn't say so since I have no expertise at all regarding the MAW installer, that thing always was a mystery to me.
RCAF_Gunner made the installer, he is still hanging out here at the FSX forum.
Other than that, only thing I can think of is that you hit the wrong exe file at one point, IIRC there are three but only one will do the job.

Thanks Mathias. Here's a screen shot of what's happening, for what it's worth. Anyone trying to solve this please keep in mind that I had MAW up and running last year.

What I realized when I made the screen shot is that this Version 1.1. Maybe if I download the 1.31 version it will solve the problem, but of all the files at the beginning od this thread I don't have a clue as to what I would need to download.

    Any help is most appreciated.

That would probably cure the problem.

You need all files from the first post.
There is one zip file that holds the docs and exe files and the .d01 to .d15 files (that's fileparts so that one can download the whole shadderack in smaller chunks).
Place the Dxx files and the unzipped zip file into the same location, read the doc and hit the appropriate exe file to run the installer

Thanks Mathias will do. And thanks again for working on MAW. It's a great addition to CFS3:ernae:

That's a Command window. If I've got this right, whether you press Y for yes, N for no or A for all, nothing happens? Odd, I don't remember needing to give any input like that when installing MAW, any version. Perhaps there are some files remaining from the previous install?

The thing I especially remember about installing MAW was how long it took on my old rig, but how easy the process was nevertheless. Good job, RCAF_Gunner!

Thanks for the info hairy spin. I had no idea that is a command line, so I haven't tried pressing Y, N or A. I'll give it a shot.

I agree that RCAF-Gunner did a great job with the installer. It worked like a charm the first time I tried it. There may indeed be some files reamining from the previous install. I used an unistall program that was supposed to get everything but that line suggests otherwise.

    Much appreciated.

Well apparently you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks to hairyspin's advice I now have MAW V 1.1 up and running perfectly. And thanks to Italflyer I now know what NOT to do in Quick Combat to get it working properly. Which is: "Choose "enemy fighter" first in quick combat. When flying intercept or escort, also choose "bomber" first."

Now I'm able to roam the beautiful Meditteranean skys. And I do mean beautiful. MAW is truly a new game. Simply put it is CFS4, with more and better planes, scenery, effects, vehicles, sun, clouds and skys and much more. For those of you about that don't know the years of very hard and meticulous work that went into maing MAW for CFS3 I'm including the credits.

How much of this must be downloaded to add MAW to my CFS3?

  20. #45
    Hello guys,

unfortunately I had to take the files down again, at least temporary,
so MAW is currently unavailable, yet again.
If someone else has some webspace to host the files (apr. 1.5 GB) I'd be happy to hearing from you!

Mathias maybe You can make those files available via torrent? I think it's a good solution until You find some new place for it. What do You think?

If anyone is willing, I'll pay for the DVD's and postage in order to get a copy of MAW.

If you remember, before OFF3 came out but after the dev's canned the OFF2 downloads, there was an amazing user-generated thread that distributed the OFF2 downloads via "pay-it-forward" so to speak. You got the OFF2 install DVD on the honor that you agreed to send it to at least one other fellow.

    Maybe it'll work here?

I've packaged up the MAW v1.10 release plus the 1.11 patch and have sent them to you. However, I don't have any of the recent patches (I think the current version is 1.31) so you'll need to scrounge those later on.

Mathias as probably Steve has been saying to you, the offer stands to have OZx host your files for MAW free of charge of course
