    what is the ETA?
Won't be too long Lewis, I just need to tidy up a few loose ends and stick some gauges and older style yokes in the 'pit. Hopefully one day it'll get some wartime paint too. I particularily like the camo top /blue undersurface of the SEAC scheme.

I think it will be good for some what if paratroop missions behind enemy lines. I don't know if these were ever used for air drops but with a side door you would think so.

  7. #32
maybe there could be a Glenn Miller 'what-if' mission. Didn't he go missing in a Beech 18?

Murray Cod, sorry, that's not the one.

"On December 15, 1944, Miller was to fly from the United Kingdom to Paris, France, to play for the soldiers who had recently liberated Paris. His plane (a single-engined UC-64 Norseman, USAAF serial 44-70285) departed from RAF Twinwood Farm in Clapham, Bedfordshire and disappeared while flying over the English Channel. No trace of the aircrew, passengers or plane has ever been found. Miller's status is missing in action."

Pulled this off the web, so no it was not a Beech craft but "what if missions" are not bound by history.

December 15, 1944, a cold, wet and foggy afternoon, Glenn Miller departed RAF-Base, England in a Norseman C-64 aircraft. The flight was to take Glenn Miller and other passengers to Paris. However, the flight never made it. It is believed the aircraft encountered icing conditions over the English Channel and crashed. Glenn Miller and his band had been performing for Allied Troops prior to the crash and was planning on putting on a show in Paris, France. Glenn Miller and his band was idolized by many during his career.

    Clive,

I just wanted to mention that I believe that may be the best and most realistic looking aluminum finish I have seen on a CFS 3 aircraft.

Milton has used photo-textures for the bulk of it.

    Gentlemen,

Thanks for the nice comments about the D18S. Looks like with Pat's efforts, you will get to see a nice realistic Beech in CFS3. Thank you Pat.

The D18S I patterned this model after is at my local CAF museum now completely restored and awaiting certification. As part of my data collection phase, the museum / restoration group allowed full access to the aircraft, inside and outside (although it was undergoing restoration at the time). I have many pictures of the exterior, and lots of the panel and gauges up close to use as raw material for the project, or any like project.

You can see the website that documented part of that effort here. CAF D18S

If anyone would like the exterior pictures, or the up close panel and gauge pictures for raw project material, just PM or Email me and I would be happy to share them. I have attached some re-sized examples.

Pat, you don't now how much you're tempting me to re-install CFS 3. Are textures mapped the same as the FS version? I've got about 85 installed paint schemes for the Twin Beech.

    I do miss mudmoving...

Willy, apart from a modded instrument panel texture, the mapping is unchanged so any of the fs9 repaints will fit.

She's on her way up to SoH now, will be ready once the admin chaps have ok'd her.

    Tannoy announcement....

"We are sorry for the slight delay in the departure of Beechcraft UC45 to SoH owing to Grizzly50 not liking the colour of the seats!"

Luckily an upholsterer, Mrs Mary Hinge, was found at the last minute who has now replaced them with a nice floral motif.

Thanks for testing Kasey, I owe you more than a few of these
