Curious designation, Chris - it is the Lévy-Besson 200hp according to my source, but we'll not quibble !

  5. #12005
Not sure where this came from but it is called the LB there too.

  6. #12006
As I said, I'm not quibbling, and the original photo shows 'L-B' on the nose, this signifies 'Lévy-Besson' ! Neither the authoritative 'Aéronefs de l'Aviation Maritime', nor Aerofrance refer to a 'Besson LB'.

But, gentlemen, we are in the murky waters of French aircraft designations.........

After examining what seemed like several thousand biplane floaters, I'll settle on the Kawanishi K8K1 !

  9. #12009
That's what I had over to you.

    Chris

A one-off trial of this engine in a mid-20's fighter that served with two air arms . Over 200 of the original model built.....

    I figured as much!

But the fighter looks the same as the other 200+ (apart from the front bit with the whirly thing.........). One of the air forces it went to was in a northern state.

I waited to see if anyone else got it but it's been over a day.
    Fiat C.R.5

Chris, the rest of the crew are obviously on a sabbatical, so I'll have to have a shot at your shrouded floater.

How about the Svenska 'Pirat' ?

  18. #12018
Thanks for getting it right. Going on a couple day vacation to Sun Valley to see what it like. Not sure about my connection so it worked out well. Always my first stop on the internet to see something I haven't seen before

Okay, I think we have a handle on the twin boom pusher. Since I'm the twin boom pusher fanatic around here I will knock it off the board. The Campbell F.

(Besides, I have a very obscure but interesting flying boat I'm anxious to unleash next).
