As for the gauges, the download I found had replacement gauges in a separate folder. I can send those if you need them.
Also, I was going to spruce up the cockpit glass with a better shine but the glass isn't on a texture sheet it's just a material so I thought I'd load the mdl file into MDLMat and see if I could tweak it somehow in there. The mdl file couldn't be loaded because it says it must be an "older" mdl file?

My Bad: I was using the wrong version of the material editor. MDLMatXX is the correct one. However the material doesn't show up in the list of materials.
MDLMat may not be able to handle FSX native files.

Attached is an external model with a glass texture added to the material.
The actual glass.bmp is just one I grabbed off another model so you can create a glass texture that suits your needs.

If you want I can also add a specular texture and a fresnel ramp to the glass part.

Thanks for that glass update Gavin. I am bundling up everything that has been changed/updated to this interesting WWII Fighter and I'll upload it to the Warbirds Library in a day or so.

Thank you, and yes, please do!

Don't forget to reverse animation for rudders, ailerons, and nose gear. It's quite easy now, thanks to Arno's latest version of McX:

Hadn't noticed that the rudders etc were reversed. Don't have time to check now but will sometime this weekend. If so as vonstroheim says it is an easy fix.

Thanks for packaging up the whole thing with your VC update

I checked the rudder and nose wheel and the animation is reversed however the in-flight response is correct. Elevator and ailerons are ok.

Thanks for checking Ed (I've been busy all day running an old friend around), should be able to put up a fixed model tomorrow.

    Final update

    Hi,
Here is my final update to the Salamander.
The zip file contains an updated external model that corrects the rudder and nose gear animations. I have also included a fresnel ramp map and a specular texture for the canopy, please feel free to adjust them to your hearts content.

Thanks Gavin, great work! I'll upload this as a separate download so those that already have the Jet (almost 100 downloads already) can just swap out the mdl's.
