There's now an add-on that adds a runway (ICAO "DUNE") near the hidden scenery in Sudan, if you want to do some free-flying in the Dune scenery. (Doesn't have the sand effects, though.)

Trapped as one is inside the Insect Sim, you may as well do all the Challenges, eh?
I thought I'd really cracked it with my best of 2 and a half minutes, then I saw the scoreboard Top Ten at under a minute.

Its quite straight forward to add Dune sand effects. All it needs is to save a flight in the Dune area (actually you can add sand anywhere in the world! See the linked video), a quick edit of the FLT file to add a config line of text, save then load that FLT file. Sand as far as the eye can see!
