    C-5 Galaxy

Hello everyone I've been looking for a C-5 galaxy that would work in P3Dv4. I found some FSX/FS2004 versions but alas they don't work in P3DV4. Does anyone know if there ever was a conversion to work with P3Dv4? If not is there anyone that could convert the FSX/FS2004 freeware aircraft to P3Dv4?

I also saw that Military AI Works has a P3Dv4 C-5 AI aircraft. Could that be made flyable with the addition of a panel and VC?

    Thanks,

    Rob

You can use the Abacus/Area 51 FSX C-5M Super Galaxy in P3Dv4/5, there are no 32 bit dll modules which would cause issues. PC Aviator is still selling it. The MAIW AI C-5 is a no go, it was designed for AI use only, the animations and flight model do not work correctly if you try to use it as a flyable model.

Thank you, I'll check it out.

The Virtavia/Alpha conversion didn't work in v4? Most of my Virtavia models fly fine in v5. I have the Area 51 C-5M and it works fine in v5.3, would love to refresh the VC and gauges.

The Virtavia /Alphasim C-5 should convert into P3D. The gauges are all in a CAB file so they should work.

I can take a look at converting it if there isn't a conversion already out there.

    All,

I couldn't get the Virtavia /Alphasim C-5 to work in P3Dv4. Gavinc could you look at it?

In the mean time I did purchase the Area 51 FSX C-5M Super Galaxy and after some tweaks and downloading some extra paint schemes it works well.

I agree with Victory103 would to see a refresh of the VC and gauges.

It won't work without being converted. I'll take a look at how hard the conversion process will be.

    Stay tuned.

Stick with the Area 51 C-5

    Hi,
I did look at converting the Alphasim C-5. It sort of converts but the lighting is terrible and the model is quite old and not really up to current standards. It also has a very bizzare texture situation, 3 textures means 3 separate models with the texture names hard coded into them and sharing a single texture folder.

I'm not going to spend anymore time on it.

The best option today is probably the Area51 Sim variant then.

I could even pimp the very dark cockpit a bit and also modified loading in the aircraft.cfg. If there are people interested, I can share my mod.

    Gavin,

Thank you for taking the time to look at the Alphasim model.

I ended up getting the Area51 C-5 and for the most part like it.

    Blaunarwal,

Would you mind sharing your mods?

    Thanks,

I have gradually been converting most of the Alphasim FS9 planes for my own use but I hadn't got round to the C5 yet but this thread prompted me to take a look at it.

It's fairly basic but no worse than a lot of other FS9 planes from this era IMO.
The VC's serviceable but only the gear and speed brake are clickable.
I took a look at consolidating it down to one model but there are some texture mapping differences especially with the white one so I decided to leave it with the three separate models, I did separate out the textures to their own folders though.

The original readme douse say "These files are freeware. Please amend/distribute as you see fit."
so I assume I can upload the full conversion if others here want it but just want some confirmation that I'm not braking any SOH rules first?

That would be great if the C-5 can be modded.

    Hear's hoping!

    Thanks.
I think great is a bit of an overstatement, its a pretty old model, I would say its serviceable

One think I forgot to mention in the readme.
If you fly in VR open the aircraft.cfg in notepad and at the bottom there's an alternative eyepoint that places you in the pilot seat a bit better.
