    Problems reinstalling MSFS

    Hi Guys,

I recently bought a new rig, specs in my signature, and tried reinstalling MSFS three times now.

Downloading isn't a problem, but it keeps on hanging while decompressing the larger package files.

I've followed the instructions on the MSFS forums (closing MSFS and deleting the files that hang, restarting the sim to start the install again)

But after a few GB's, it hangs again.

Further information: I'm running Windows 11 22H2 Enterprise edition and I'm on a 500 Mbps connection.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Priller

Are you trying to install on "C" drive or another drive? If "C" maybe try on a second drive. I am just brainstorming here. I have no idea if that will work, but...

I'm reinstalling in C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator\, so not in the default location.

    BTW, I'm a steam user.

But thanks for your reply John!

Update: in the meantime, the base install (download manager) has finished normally.

I'll do the rest (marketplace and contentmanager) tomorrow. I'm through watching that damned screen for today!

Funny thing that I noticed: this morning, the rig would get hot while downloading and speeds were very high (sometimes up to 250 Mbps). This afternoon, speeds were a lot lower, but she didn't get hot at all.

    Something to look into!

    Cheers,

I finally got to install the whole thing again, only to have a CTD every time I start a flight.

I'm fed up with this crap, I'm reinstalling the rig tomorrow.

Try to install it to the other drive or do a partition just for MSFS ~ and do all the updates at Msoft Store / Libr.

The rig has been reinstalled. I'll probably try installing MSFS tomorrow.

Update: after flashing the BIOS, setting the RAM timing and speed to "automatic", having the exe run as administrator and disabling the AV, downloads are now working.

    Only 60+ GB to go!

Isn't it a PITA when your brand new rig give you problems. Hope it all goes well for now on. You will love MSFS on a powerful rig.

Hi John! It IS indeed a PITA, but everything is working as it should now. Even the addons. So there is a silver lining!
    Take care,
