Most of you will probably be familiar with his 'LA Speed Check' story found on youtube, but Major Brian Shul (Ret) flew hundreds of close air support missions over Vietnam and was eventually shot down. He received the Purple Heart. He was in hospital for a long time, but he recovered and went on to fly the SR-71 Blackbird. Missions included overflights of Libya conducting post strike reconnaisance after 'Eldorado Canyon' in 1986.
He released two books on the SR-71 - Sled Driver and The Untouchables - both containing his excellent photography of the subject. Since leaving the USAF he went on to be an aviation photographer at Mach One, and took part in many public speaking engagements captivating audiences with his time flying the SR-71.
Although there has been some negativity over the years surrounding how true some of these stories actually were, you cannot deny his military career his enthusiasm for life, his motivation to convey stories about his life and his story telling ability.
