    Q about Shessi/Ted Cooks Wellington Mk X

    Is there a way to lose the light's, switch's in cockpit dont work and cant score-out in cfg, as there in the model. If im not careful im going to get shot down

    Ian, are you referring to Shessi's FS9/CFS2 conversion of Ted Cook's original plane? If so, I don't see any lights on the aircraft day or night. There is a green and a red colored area on each wingtip but when I try to turn on the lights with the "L" key I don't see any illumination. Post a screen shot so I can see what your plane looks like with the lights constantly on.

    I thought you were going mad Ian!......and so I went and checked...and yes I had the same issue??!!

    I then went and had a look at the original FSDS file that Ted sent me back in 2013 (yes,that's when I did it!!). What it is, Ted orginally built it in FSDS 3.X, and 3.X has different light commands from FSDS 2.24, which I used to compile, this causes the permenant lights showing (which can't be turned off etc as they are built into the model). The odd thing is that the screen shot I put with the Fs9 version does not show the lights, and I'm sure that when I uploaded it, I would have not left the lights like that?

    Now 10 years on I understand all versions of FSDS a lot better, so I've been playing with the model. I will update it and fix the light issue. The issue is that 2.24 has great leeway for compiling (you can get away with a lot of odd polys/bad normals etc and it will still compile), and can use LOD's, BUT 2.24 does not have the ani's that later FSDS versions have ie active touch VC etc, AND FSDS 3.X does not have the leeway in compilation or use LOD's, but does have more ani's to use.

    What I'm thinking of doing are two versions, one with a great new VC (but with basic ani's), and one with the original VC which has touch ani's.......watch this space....

    I should've waited for Shessi to post.
    When I replied to Ian I was flying the Wellington from Shessi's "CFS2_Vickers_Wellington_Mk_X.zip" here at SOH. It has NO lights and comes with a dp and other CFS2 files. There is also a "FS9 Vickers Wellington Mk X.zip" which is the older of the two downloads. They're both described as FS9 and CFS2 compatible. Ian has the older one which I just now downloaded and yes the lights are on all the time. I'll add some lights to the one I originally downloaded and post the cfg line entries here.

    Here's a lights configuration for Shessi's Wellington without the lights, i.e. "CFS2_Vickers_Wellington_Mk_X.zip". I got a little creative and installed blue formation lights on the rudder and the trailing edges of the wingtips. They are flagged as strobes so you can turn them on/off using the "O" key. The landing light is default FS9, the light in my fridge is brighter. A ShockWave effect or something equally bright would be better.
    If you don't have a blue nav light effect just copy the lines below the cfg line entries to Notepad and save as "fx_navblu.fx".
