A New Highlighted Aircraft On the Calendar

The Bristol F2B or "the Biff" as it was know by its crews in WWI. There are four parts that you can download over at Avsim the link will be below to Part 1. Each part is interesting in itself, check it out and have fun flying in the skies with "The Red Baron and Snoopy".

    https://library.avsim.net/search.php...root&Go=Search

You used to be able to fly in Rise Of Flight but my search this morning said that it is no longer supported and the multiplayer has been dead for a couple of years. Everyone who used to fly with it has moved to Flying Circus. I looked up Flying Circus to find that it is an IL2 Sturmovic game and has to be purchased at Steam. So fly it in FSX and have fun even with no live combat with ai or multiplayer opponents. It's STILL BEAUTIFUL.

    Waco QCF2

This was the featured aircraft today. In searching, the only Waco for us to fly is the payware from Golden Age Simulations of the UBF-2 which was the last model built in the F-2 line. A beautiful addition to your hanger with both wheeled and float versions. Check out Golden Age Simulations or one of the online retailers. They also previously produced an F and F2 package for FS9 and FSX with three different versions. Not the same package as the UBF-2 FSX P3D native. No freeware versions are available.

    May 12 The "Jug"

When I flipped over the calendar and tore off the page there before me was the venerable P-47D Thunderbolt with its bubble canopy. This WWII legend fought both in the European, Mediterranean and Asiatic theatres. The earlier version was the Razorback canopy and this is available for free at Perfect Flight:FSX/P3D v3, v4 model with 6 textures and 3 variants. by A.F.Scrub.
    https://www.fs2000.org/2019/02/16/fs...-47-razorback/

A2A has the P47D with Accusim
payware package is available at a number of retailers online as well as a lot of repaints at the different download sites like AVSIM and Simviation.

I don't think that any screenshot is necessary for this famous aircraft.

    Saturday and Sunday

My calendar has a double date for Saturday/Sunday May 13/14. It's the North American P-51D Mustang. The highly recognizable "bubble canopy" version of this famous fighter. First freeware version of it is available At FS2000 Perfect Flight by A.F. Scrub compatible with FSX, Steam P3D V3 and 4. Here is the link:

    https://www.fs2000.org/2020/07/07/fs...p-51d-mustang/

Then next for free is at Flyaway Simulation, the Alphasim Mustang upgraded by Steve Hess for FSX.

    https://flyawaysimulation.com/downlo...d-mustang-v11/

Flyaway Simulation also has an updated FS2004 P-51D by J.E. Narcizo here:

    https://flyawaysimulation.com/downlo...-p-51-mustang/

I don't care for the slow download speed of Flyaway Simulation but I did not find anything but textures at AVSIM. Simviation has a whole page of P-51D Mustangs and textures here:

    https://simviation.com/1/search?subm...ng&categoryId=

    Now for the payware Mustangs:

A2A Simulations Accusim for the serious Mustanger who has a "Need For Speed": https://a2asimulations.com/product/a...1-mustang-fsx/

Just Flight has the most extensive collection of the Warbirdsim "D" at: https://www.justflight.com/product/w...-mustang-tales

Flight 1 has a Mustang developed with a REAL Mustang owner/pilot and looks quite impressive at SimMarket: https://secure.simmarket.com/flight-...tang-fsx.phtml

If you want to fly it "by the book" here is the link to the Pilot's Flight Operating Instructions: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.o...l-5april44.pdf

As I Tore Off Another Page

This morning as I tore another page of the calendar for a new day Monday May 15th, there in beautiful color is the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. My first B-17 was the F from A2A for FS9. When I upgraded to FSX and they offered the G, I bought it and started flying with the 91st BG virtual and flew missions for over 3 years including the D-Day, CBI and Pearl Harbor ones. Lotta fun and a great group. When Aeroplane Heaven came out with their package of both F and G versions, I bought it and started flying it with the 91st. My first livery I created ( did 6 repaints for the 401st BS) was actually for an F model but A2A never did one for FSX/P3D so I used a G. I repainted Bomb Boogie for the AH and flew an accurately painted aircraft. My last ride was "Hey Daddy" a G model on the A2A. Aeroplane Heaven is now free at ORBX and though not as complex as A2A's Accusim product it is still a tremedous product and IMO flies equally as authentic and as well having flown both on missions through FLAK and enemy aircraft. I actually brought it home from a mission "On A Wing And A Prayer" with the left landing gear stuck up from FLAK damage. Just cleared the White Cliffs Of Dover and landed it with all crew uninjured in a meadow where it settled into the turf. Back to Bassingbourn on a bus after the farmer took us to town. Then started flying "Hey Daddy" the Bomb Boogie being a total loss, a B-17G built under contract by Consolidated Aircraft which Builders Plate I added to the VC for authenticity.

    The Globe Swift

There are threads everywhere for this beautiful aircraft FOR FREE from Aeroplane Heaven when he made everything not MSFS free at ORBX except it's not there. I wrote a PM to Bazaar awaiting reply. There is Leon Lyons' upgraded Globe Swift that was FS2002 to FS2004 that I am going to unzip and see if it flies in FSX. I don't know about P3D V4 up. I will reply in just a bit. It is the only other one besides the AH that was created. There is a nice thread on here about it. Never mind it doesn't work the gauges are FS98 gauge files and the windows are all black in the VC so let's wait and hear what Bazaar has to say if it's still free to download.

    Yesterday And Today

Yesterday was another shot of the B-24 Liberator so I didn't revisit it as I'd done it before but today is the P-39 Aerocobra and "Scrubby" has done a beautiful job of it for all the sims except MSFS and X-plane back in 2021 so here is the link to the SOH post and it's in our library.

    The Spirit Of St Louis

This is the calendar page for yesterday and todasy, Sunday. The Spirit Of St. Louis the famous Charles Lindbergh flight across the Atlantic is available converted to FSX from the default FS2004 aircraft and it has been resurrected in MSFS.

Also, ORBX finally has the Aeroplane Heaven Globe Swift for FSX and all P3D's and I was just able to install it with ORBX Central. It gives you a dozen different repaints with PBR mirror textures in P3D V4.5+

    Douglas A-20 Havoc

Today's calendar has another great project that was uploaded here to the Warbird Library created by by Milton Shupe, Tom Falley, William Ellis, Nigel Richards, Roman Stoviak, Huub Vink, SteveB. Original Pilot figures by Jan Visser and Bill Ortis. Thanks to GLH for his early research and work on the aircraft.cfg data.

Thanks to Huub and SteveB for allowing use of two each of their texture sets. Great stuff!
Links to more of their paints included.

Here is the link...check it out!

    Today's Calendar is

The Grumman F8f Bearcat. It is available for FSX: FS2000 or Perfect Flight has a complete package created by our own Milton Shupe and Ed Wells for FSX at:
https://www.fs2000.org/2009/06/15/fs...-1b-and-f8f-2/ for free and a payware version at Vertigo Studios:
    https://vertigostudios.co.uk/f8f/

You can find more and repaints by a Google for it.

    The New One For Today

Today,s calendar girl is the Republic P-47 Thundeerbolt, "The Jug" as it was affectionately known. This photo is of the bubble canopy version not the razorback. It is available with Accusim from A2A a fantastic package obviously payware. Then, for FSX, Steam and P3D up to V4, Just Flight sells Aeroplane Heaven's contribution of this venerable fighter.

ID:	90838 Jan Kees has many repaints for the Aeroplane Heaven "Jug" here in the Library.

In the freeware arena, you can find numerous entries by just Googl'ing it at Flyaway Simulation, Avsim and Simviation.

DC Designs is supposed to be creating one for MSFS the article I found says.

Enjoy flying it whichever one you choose. I've got the A2A Accusim but JF AH looks great from what I've seen. If you've got it pipe in here with a short review.

I admit to being a little confused as I thought A2A only had the Razorback model, which is why I bought the JF/AH Jug as well.

You are correct. I made the mistake of looking at the old Wings Of Power P-47 not Accusim which was for FS2004 but the FSX/P3D version IS a Razorback. I have flown the Wings Of Power B-17F in FSX Acceleration successfully but I don't own the WOP P-47 FS2004. If someone can try it in FSX(A) to see if it works, post the results. Thanks for the heads up.

    Nothing To Share Today

The calendar highlights Benny Howard's DGA-3 Racer but unfortunately no one has ever done this iconic aircraft from the Golden Age Of Aviation. It's interesting that the scale model aircraft community has done all kinds of things from just plans to complete laser-cut kits for gas and electric flight.

There are DGA-15's much later and not anything like it in FSX and X-plane but no "Pete's". We'll see what the Memorial Day Weekend brings for Saturday/Sunday tomorrow. Have a great day today.

    Stinson L-5 Sentinal

No freeware versions are available. Aeroplane Heaven did a nice version available at PC Aviator, Steam, Simshack and Just Flight payware ONLY and slightly different prices all downloads. Too bad no one has either created or converted any freeware version.

    Repeats

I think that the calendar may start to repeat with just different photos of the previous subjects. Today is the Grumman FM-2 Wildcat which is if memory serves, a General Motors built Wildcat under license from Grumman. There is a new entry I found in AVSIM that is well worth checking out for you carrier fans:

This file includes an FM2 Wildcat fighter and Escort Carrier group. The FM2 was an upgraded version of the F4F Wildcat and was designed to operate off the small decks of escort carriers. The FM2 has the markings of VC-27 which was the highest scoring escort carrier squadron of the war. The escort carrier has the markings of the "Savo Island", the carrier to which VC-27 was assigned. This is dedicated to the men of VC-27 and the Savo Island.

Here is the update created a month later:
