My advice (from my own experience and for what it's worth).
Don't rush in and buy/download a bunch of new addons.
Take your time to try all the default aircraft and above all explore the World with them first.
Get the settings right for you before - there plenty of advice on this on line.
I did it the opposite way around and I think I have missed out !!!

Agree 100% with your thoughts, baby steps for sure. I've spent the weekend working closely with our in house IT dept ( my wife ) and were seeing some great results.
