OK Richard, I think I got the repaints working. It has to do with Bear Studios' decision to name their blank model folder model.0 instead of something sensible like model.baremetal. The 0 seems to confuse external repaints into choosing the wrong model; when model="" is specified it uses model.0 which doesn't load textures. I have been able to make external repaints work by doing the following.
- Copy the plane's "model" folder into your repaint alongside your texture.xxx folder, but rename it "model.1"
- Specify model="1" in your repaint's aircraft.cfg file
- Don't forget to rebuild the json for the repaint
