    Condor Legion Font

    Hello guys,

I'm searching a Condor Legion Font. The numbers on the planes were very distinctive. Does it exist?

Hi, I think the font was Fraktur, from what I can tell there are several variations of the font.

Not sure if this link will help.

    https://www.1001fonts.com/fraktur-fonts.html?page=1

Also the below link is for fonts that Dieter Steffmann put together. I think of interest may be the Humboldt Fraktur Regular font. To me it looks the closest.

    Hope this helps

    Hello Cees,
I found this site that has a font called "Condor". It also references similar fonts. http://www.identifont.com/show?2E6D

If you are looking for numbers, model decal sheets have some very good graphics.

Yes, it's the numbers on top of this decal sheet! It would be nice if a font thereof existed!

    Thanks guys!

Don't know, but I found this site with lots of interesting fonts.

    http://moorstation.org/typoasis/desi...nn/index.htm#M

Tannenburg might be recognizable to most.

It's not free Pete! I'll have to pay an amount of money to get a result that probably is not it!

Cees, Computer acting up and can't format my posts, but here is a link I found for fonts. It may help you in making the font yourself. https://www.thoughtco.com/create-you...kscape-1701895 Inkscape is free and is like Illustrator -- much like GIMP is to Photoshop. The link should help you transfer/trace the characters and then make a font you can use in any project down the line since the shapes/numbers will already be done. Jorge

Hi Cees, in the past I did some Condor legion repaints. For these repaints I created the numbers. I will checke whether I can still find these numbers.

    Cheers,
    Huub

    Here you are Cees!

The zip file below contains a layered file with a sheet with the numbers and a second sheet with an alternative 8 and 0

The "other" numbers on the decal sheet posted by Hurricane91 are in the early Condor numbers font.

Not bad, not bad at all .

You almost did beat me as my original file was a bit messy. I had not drawn the numbers with the intention to share them. So when I cleaned up the file a bit, I realised there was no number 4, so I had to draw that one first....

    Cheers,
    Huub

    Thanks Huub!

Don't really get to share much with work and "real" life taking up most of my time!

I embarassingly forgot to mention. I work with GIMP for textures, SVG, etc. In order to use the ones I did, you would have to import the SVG files into Photoshop (or GIMP, or whatever) in order to see the paths.

Not sure if I needed to mention that or not, but felt dumb when I loaded the psd file and saw no paths.

I can post the GIMP file with everything if you folks want, or I can load to the library under "Utilities" as well. Whatever you guys prefer.

    Nice Cees,

Drawing number in the same font is actually not that difficult. The numbers and letters in a font share the same dimensions and often the same curves. First make a layer with these dimensions and than draw an "O", which will provide you most of the curves. A bit smart copy and pasting will provide you most letters and numbers, without too much problems. Although the 2, 4 and 7 might be a challenge.

    Cheers,
    Huub

Some Condor Legion legends below, using the same numbers....

And Shessi's early Bf109s are great canvas to test these numbers on........

And remember, we are still in FS2004 here!

    Cees,

To avoid disappointment, the Messerschmitt Bf109 E-3 from the Kondor Legion with registration 6-111 was flown by Lt. Werner Ursinus, Laciena Spain, 1939. Stephan Pillon (Epsillon) did already a very nice repaint representing this aircraft. It is available in the library here.

    Cheers,
    Huub

I know, but it's ever so satisfying to fly in a repaint I did myself. I won't upload it.....

    Hi Cees,

Sorry I had not seen your question. Yes I did this repaint, but I don't think I ever uploaded it. It depicts the Bf109 E-3 flown by Oblt. Hans Schmoller-Haldy, 3. J/88, Spain, 1938.

As only black and white pictures exist from this aircraft the actual colour is not really know. The descriptions run from Hellgrau (bright grey) to Schwartzgrün (Extra dark green), with everything in between upper surfaces and light blue under surfaces. Based on the period during the Spanish Civil War, for me the most logical choice was RLM02 grey upper surfaces and RLM65 light blue lower surfaces. The E-3 aircraft were more or less prototypes to be tested under war circumstances, so the standards primer colour RLM02 sound logical to me, although this was also the period in which experimental camouflage schemes were used.

The same is more or less applicable for the beer mug and the mickey mouse figure. Some profiles show them in colour and some in black and white. The black & white pictures don't really provide and answer.

Your "Ursinus" repaint looks nice. And as we already discussed actually more authentic than Stephan's repaint.

    Cheers,
    Huub
