Hi Folks,
Another pre WWII-war ac, a USN Northrop BT-1 dive bomber. I converted/revamped/updated/tweaked Paul Clawson's FSX BT-1 for us in Fs9. Being finalised, and will be uploaded next week.

That’s in the top two or three in my Golden-Age wish list!
I will look forward to painting it up in the liveries of the two fleet squadrons that flew it and any other units I can find that’s had them. And maybe some time even fly it from an old Virtual Navy Yorktown-class carrier.
But first I have those PBY skins to convert.
And before that I have a lot of work to do on the current project with David.
And before any of that I have to get my new rig built.
For now it’s still the computer at the local library or this awkward tablet my friend lent me.
😩
Wow! What a beauty! I'm looking forward to flying this bird.
Many thanks for continuing the development of FS9.
P.S. The old salt in the VC is a nice touch.
Thats a fine looking aircraft chaps, although im a bit rusty on my pre-war US type's. I know its a different manufacture but it looks like its trying to be a Dauntless, but not quite getting there yet
You are correct Ian. The Northrop BT-1 and BT-2 were the direct progenitors of the SBD Dauntless.
I believe Ed Heinemann was chief engineer involved in all three designs, first at Northrop, and continuing
development of the BTs into the SBD after Douglas took over Northrop in 1937.
Interesting, i had no prior knowledge, but there's something about the wing shape and central fuselage that made me think SBD
The Douglas Dauntless started life as the Northrop BT2, the follow on to BT1.
As Shessi said Heineman was design lead on BT1 and BT2, the name was changed as Northrop became subsumed into Douglas.

The updated FSX version works in P3D4 - but must change the tail number (I used 333) in the loading box, it won't accept the default BT-1.
Dive brakes? Default "/" works, or use lever on lower right of panel - thumbwheel scroll works for me.
Some gauges do not show - non xml types (.gau) but could easily be replaced
