wow, Classic endurance cars are really amazing to see! I've been a few times at Le Mans Classic and each time I've been fascinating. Sebring 12 hours is also this week-end, one of my favorite race of the year, any category. I love the atmosphere, I really hope I'll be able to go there one day, it's a so unique place in motorsport world.

Saturday........this Ferrari 156/85 has had a chequered history since it first appeared in Historic and Classic events at PI.
This year it ran flawlessly at the head of the field, looking good and sounding great!
PITA to photograph in the pits and way too fast on track.

The Weather Gods have been really kind, hazy Autumn skies and mid-20C+ all weekend! A small part of the Saturday crowd, just a few of the many owner's clubs attending.
In this case I think it is part of the XU1 Owners Club......I was owned by a 1972 LJ202 XU1 (Pearl White) in a previous life, cracker little Bathurst Homologation 'Special'.
Came off the showroom floor with race suspension, HD brakes, CR gearbox and a blue printed 202CI straight 6 complete with triple dual throat Solex carbs, usually swiftly replaced with triple Webers.
Good for 150MPH+ in 'road trim' (or 'Bathurst' spec) and guaranteed to add points to the unwary driver's licence!
    Wish I still had mine.......

PS: Sofie suggested we make a sacrifice to the Weather Gods. After some discussion the initial plan to sacrifice a Virgin had to be discarded, as 'Virgins' seem to be an endangered species...........

Very much a learning experience with my (newish) Olympus!
When it comes to on track action it has been like firing a Mach 10......'spray and pray'!
Surprised myself when a decent number of shots turned out more or less OK.
    Practice needed.
Nice 962C, always like the 'Hydro Aluminum' scheme and interesting to see how much wing it was carrying on such a fast circuit.

As mentioned previously, REALLY hard getting decent shots in the over crowded paddock area.
Another F1 car that showed how fast and loud a 1.5L turbo car can be, the 'Beatrice' Lola Hart, ex Alan Jones.
Both the Lola and Ferrari turbos would exit the top corner onto the very long straight and hook top gear which they held all the way into the very fast turn 1, out-bloody-standing!

Shame they never carried on with the Cosworth V6 Turbo but by then the money dried up.

A few of the well attended 'V8 Supercar' group enthusiastically supported by both sides of the spectrum. Very loud, very fast and very colourful.

Found in the public car park: arguably the most impractical road car of the weekend! I'd bet the amount of gravel collected in the front spoiler would induce a decent amount of understeer.
Road suitability -10, pose value +110.

That a 997 dressed up to look like a 991 RSR..?

Looks like a great weekend, those Ferrari Turbos are quite rare in running order.
Still thinking about going to the Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix, last time wasn't a great experience...
Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

That 911 is something of a mystery Ferry.
I'm tracking it via the POC as well as the assorted tags: if it is an 'updated' 997 there has been a LOT of $$$ spent on it.
Rather different event to previous years, a lack of pukka classic cars (the only Bugatti was on a trade stand), none of the usual vintage Talbots, Bentleys, Alfa Romeos, Hispanos and such, not even one GT40 or contemporary Ferrari, and no sign of D type or C type Jaguars etc.
Lots of V8 Supercars and their earlier Gr.A competition, including the infamous Nissan turbos, but only a couple of RS Sierras and BMW M3s (love those little BMWs), while the 1970-2000 FF1600 field was made up of 50+ entrants on track.
Formula Fords five wide into 'Stoner Curve' was pretty entertaining, and while it could have ended badly the lads behaved themselves!
While I was a little dissapointed with the lack of 'classics' it was still worth attending, we caught up with friends, discovered some lovely cars in the public car parking areas, and the entire weekend was very well attended by the 'Bastard Public'........
I think the past couple of COVID years might be the reason for the missing vehicles (NSW is experiencing a surge in Omicron variant cases), many of which were owned by older enthusiasts who would have been vulnerable.
My 911E received favorable comments, even the POC doubters agreed the factory ivory finish looked 'just right', while I was very pleased with a trouble free 500+K run.
Next weekend we will be back at PI for the Aussie version of the 2 litre tourers and round 1 of the GT series, both of which will be entertaining.
If the weather holds up I'll do a top down run in the MX5, not exactly a road runner like a 911 but IMHO it is a return to my misspent youth........and Sofie really likes the car!

And do go to Zandvoort, especially if the weather is good, we live in uncertain times!
