    No Nascar Daytona threads?

    Hey All,

The 500 had it's share of multicar crashes but the "winning" crash for the weekend was in the infinity race. This was amazing lost the engine an all and Myatt was fine...

and they all rode horses-that is all but one.

I'm waiting on race 3 or 4 - as I have a theory about something.
I had no issues about the 500 nor the Duels....

    So here's my theory....
-Since the 2022 car is heavily based off of the Australian Supercar.
-Since Team Penske has ran an Australian Supercar team.
-Then Team Penske has the most amount of experience with the 2022 NASCAR Cup Car.

Therefore, Team Penske will do the best in 2022.

    Fun facts:

Larson's pole lap (181.159 mph) was slower than the Xfinity pole (182.849 mph).
Almost half of Cup cars were even slower than trucks!
    Larson's 2022 pole is 10 mph slower than Bowman's 2021 pole (191.261 mph).
It is the slowest pole at Daytona since 1974!

And 2022 Cup cars a spinning and crashing way more!

    Same thing at Fontana:

    - Cindric's Cup pole: 174,647 mph
    - Allmendinger's Xfinity pole: 179,829 mph

Slowest Cup pole ever at Fontana!

    Hey All,

    For the engineers...

    https://www.racecar-engineering.com/...-aerodynamics/

Don't know where the reference to Australian supercars comes from??

I'm not sure NASCAR has the aero where they want it. Qualifying at Fontana - I read on one forum the cars were a handful so we shall see...

I'd debate that speed doesn't make for better racing.
I'll take a 5mph loss for the slipping' and sliding' that's been happening with the Cup drivers.

It is not the fact they lost a couple of mph that bothers me. It is the fact they are much slower than Xfinity cars. Cup is supposed to be the fastest of the three National Series. This year, they are slower than Xfinity (by a lot) and barely faster than Trucks.

Cup is supposed to have the most competition and the most difficult to exceed in - but not necessarily the fastest.
Also, the new Cup car and the Xfinity car are like night and day - you can't compare the two like you could in previous years.
