A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Civilian Jets

Description: A rework of Thomas Ruth's great model of the Antonov AN-124 Ruslan for FSX in 4096x4096 detail resolution.
Original Aircraft model and design © Thomas Ruth 2008

New work includes:-

A minor change to the model characteristics to resolve spec issues.

A 2D cockpit Panel in wide screen taken from a screen capture of the VC, with gauges modded to suit. It's identical to my AN-225 2D panel.

Effects [which are needed to be copied to the FSX Effects folder for smoke and vortices. The latter is a bit ham-fisted but works.

Included are 7 variations of real aircraft, including the Prototype 82002, 8 'what-ifs' set up as Passenger aircraft, and 5 'what-ifs' of common freight companies.

Bump maps and night light bitmaps are included in the texture.common-passenger folder for specific 'passenger' versions such as the Qantas and Aeroflot, etc. but otherwise the 'real' versions are in the 'texture.common' folder, which also has the metal wings and specs.

There are, as with most models...quirks that have to be tolerated, ie. joining of various bitmaps has quite a bit of distortion...particularly around the nose and main wing haunches.

The graphics were all done to HD 4096 res, working from existing 'openings' in the model...ie. doors elevators etc. so in that regard they are accurate to the pixel. My Kit was built from scratch from enlarged original bitmaps and reworked per-pixel to get sections to align, etc. No-one appeared to have done a great deal with the spec mapping, particularly when it came to shiny chrome surfaces and were painted 'flat' [fake shine]. The main detail advantage of 4096 is the panel seams are 1-pixel wide [with matching bump maps] and not 'fudged' for look as would be the case in lower resolutions.

The linework was transposed along with various 'details' to create the Bump maps and much of them are reasonably close to real...but there's a lot of conflicting graphic representations out there so nothing's definitive really.

Thomas's original copyright and texts are included.

STRICTLY NOT for commercial gain, in whole or in part.
