Stuart,
Thank you! It's like you knew I was working on the Operation Torch missions! This fits the bill precisely.

Some of the detail work on the side elevation is removable (separate layer in case the mapped pieces do nor coincide)... (hangar deck)
Comments, suggestions and corrections welcome (always a WIP)
Available to anyone interested as usual...

Hi All,
Dombral has been doing repaints of lots of the ships that I have done.
He seems to have had problems with the Richelieu.
I am not sure what they are, and his work looks pretty good to me.
I cannot speak French, and use 'translate' (which is pretty handy), but I am not sure of his exact problems.
As a background, when I do models in GMax, I start with making the texture, then I fit the model parts to the texture (which is probably not the best way as the model parts do not fit exactly).
Most small parts are textured in the generic colour boxes.
I did mean to do an accurate texture model, (I thought it was my best so far, individal guns etc).
Would it be possible if someone could find the exact problems from Dombral and let me know.
I have pm'd him as well.
Cheers,
Stuart
P.S. - I have read that you can make the model part, paste the 'framework' of the model into a blank 1024 x 1024 PaintShop layer and then texture the 'framework'. This would probably allow for other people to texture my models. Any thoughts?
Nice Paintwork.
I have checked it with the the model and there are a couple of problems with my texturing technique (see Dombral message)
The side of the hull as made up with several parts that are not welded in GMax. It was a bit tricky to do the open hanger ports. I do not understand boolean shapes yet.
The model does not have the first 'green open area at all', but that seems to look pretty good, but I would need to move the boats, (easily done).
The three 'green ports' are a bit more problematical. In my model they are flat bottoms.
I do realize that they are 'sloped' at the bottom. I may be able to replicate that slope with welding in GMax. I will give at a go.
They could be removed from your texture, as they are actual openings.
The flight deck is really good but I will need to remap it slightly. (easily done).
Cheers,
Stuart
Hi Dombral,
Stuart
I can make a Jean Bart 1940, for you this week.
I will remap the textures as I am not sure of your specific problems.
Cheers,
Stuart
If this is the text in French you are referring to...
"merci pour ce nouveau navire pour l'opération Torch . Je pense lui faire le camouflage d'époque . "Thank you for this new Operation Torch ship. I plan to paint it in the camouflage scheme at the time... however, I hope I don't encounter the same problems I did with the Richelier 1943-44: it is impossible to paint the gray-blue bridges and all the superstructure behind which are in black. Have you noted the the Jean Bart in the port of Casablance is painted yellow!" If this is not the text in question... just post it and I will translate it for you...
Cheers,
G.
Hi Gaucho
Thanks for the better translation.
My language skills are restricted to ordering beer, der bier sil vous plait, dos cervaza por favor, zvie beer bitte, dva pivo pashlusta, etc (phonetics only, don't correct me on spelling)
I am pretty sure what the problems are.
The superstructures only have 'mapped textures' on the sides. Fore and Aft are generic grey, as are any walkways.
I will have a go at 'remapping' the textures and see how Dombral goes.
By the way, I have limited skill with Paintshop Pro 7. Your work is sensational
Thanks again.
Stuart
Lovely job Stu

Description: GMax rendition of the Marine National Battleship Jean Bart at Casablanca, 1940.
Jean Bart was only about 75% complete when construction was halted by her escape to Casablanca.
Jean Bart, moored in Casablanca harbour, stayed uncompleted as facilities to complete her were completely lacking. Her 90 mm and 37 mm mountings were even disembarked, and reallocated to the Casablanca harbour anti-aircraft defence, and the battleship left with only four twin 13.2 mm AA machine guns.
Model is Multi_LOD and has a new DP File.
GMax Models are included.
It is my understanding that the orange/red colours are undercoat paint, not camouflage.
Cheers

Super camo renditions Dombral
Excellent models and skins !!

Thank you Stuart! your stuff is very valuable.
Cheers
Mario
I know this ship does not belong here... but I am planning to do some for the Torch Operation... this is just a tryout...
think this type of profile can be used for texturing nicely detailed ships...
After a long hiatus since the Bismark, I thought I'd do some more ship profiles...here is the first of a series...
the Ship bucket site is a very good source for initial basic drawings...
Comments, corrections, etc. welcome...
As usual available to anyone interested...

Mario,
el sitio se llama Shipbucket.com... Shipbucket Archive Forum...
English speakers,
The site is Shipbucket.com Shipbucket Archive Forum
It even has warships from Uruguay and a bunch of other nations...
The profiles are "primitive" from the painting standpoint (made with MS Paint) but they are very precise in details positioning,
disruptive naval camouflage, etc.
Guys like Stuart use these profiles (as is) in their models... which gave me the idea of improving them for possible use in
model skins...
Dombral,
