Ok, I was toying with a new idea to put a Paypal donation bar on some of our products. When the donation meter reaches 100% I release a once payware product to everyone as freeware.

I was thinking of testing this idea with our Fs2004 Spitfire Package or our Re2005 package.

I would like to know if there would be any interest in this before I proceed with the idea. This is not going to be a money making venture as I plan on making the donation cap at around the same profit I would normally get from 50 sales. I know with how the world economy currently is things are tough. I can see the decline in interest in FS products as everyone is having to cut back on their spending. I thought this might sustain some interest in hopes that when the economy finally picks back up people will still be around to enjoy flightsim.

If this idea were to catch on I might consider releasing even more aircraft and possibly some new aircraft in the same manner.

For me, it would depend on where the donation goes to. But probably yes.

The donations will go to the developers of these products, and to the company to help with new ones.

I noticed that the piracy websites were receiving more in donations every month than my company normally made. If this idea were to catch on we could possibly get enough to sustain our efforts and for new releases make them impossible to pirate. The people that would normally never buy it and would search out pirate links can then become productive people by spreading the word and trying to get people to donate. Rather than being a drain they could be helpful.

It's a V, and the package contains other variants of the V including a Floatplane version.
More information is on it here

I'd be happy to. I'd LOVE to have that Re-2005 for CFS2. I already converted the MiG-3 for CFS2 and LOVE it.

    I'm with!

Although I don't like the clipped wing version or this nasty belly tank disturbing Reginals Mitchell's perfectly harmonic lines, the Mk. V sure fills the gap between my WoP Mk. I and my RAS XIV...

    Where do I sign?

    Regards,
    Markus.

    Yep.....

I would for something original or special. The Spit with the floats makes this a very worthwhile. Also, anything with D-Day stripes would entice me, too, so there are 2 reasons for me to do this.....

    Incentives are a great inducement.

Do it, but make the goal worthwhile -- and achievable!

This thread is over an year old, and some people have posted just recently, didn't they notice the date of the first post?
Nice pictures of the spitfire, Jesse!
I would be happy to make a donation. Did anything come of this idea, as its been over a year ago since this thread was started?

No, I didn't. Just looked at the most recent response.

Still a good idea, isn't it? Considering that only a fraction of the members have donated.

I am till thinking of this, the big reason I have not done anything with the idea yet is I had trouble finding a paypal graph that would let people know how close they were to reaching the goal.
