Anyone know yet whether this is enough change to break things, like Tacpack, Active Sky, or FSUIPC?

    Thanks - RobM

It seems likely -- but I'm not going to be the one to find out.

Yes... if you want to fly, better wait a day or two.

Roger that. Right now, I have things working just fine. Installing this would most likely mess things up, and I am not in a hurry! NC

For those who'd rather fly than tinker (ironic coming from a beta tester I know) 'tis best to wait a few days with every LM revision. That way the entire support ecosystem has time to get organized and updated. Once you have updates for all the support software (HiFi, EZCA, vPilot etc- whatever needs compatibility updating) then get the update. At this point LM is releasing incremental improvements (not typically fixing any show stoppers) so leaving things as for another couple of days shouldn't be too burdensome.

Only one opinion, and I am aware of what "they" say about opinions

Very, VERY good advice, and exactly what I will do. Perfect phraseology, "For those who'd rather fly than tinker." 😄 Navy Chief

One very important change L-M have made is having fixed a very long standing 'bug' that prevented us closing only one end of a runway for take off and/or landing. Ever since - well - forever making one end closed also forced the other end closed as well.

L-M found and fixed this bug just last week before the HF#2 was released. This will be a game changer once airports can be updated and AI traffic begins working more correctly... finally!

I'm in the middle of a a M/B and CPU update. Reinstalled P3Dv4 on newly updated system. Running slick. Just went to install TacPack...no go! Crap! (Latest versions of all...crap.)

I like TacPack, but VRS is not very quick to update. NC

The lack of urgency at VRS (and they will say it's complicated) has led me to focus on DCS for my combat simulator. I now use P3D primarily for pilotage. And Chief, DCS carrier landings are a rush!

It's not quite Tacpack, but it's possible to use the AI weapons in the latest version of FSCAI to arm your user controlled aircraft.

Thanks for the DCS info, Jay. I do have DCS. Even have the F-14, but I have yet to successfully set up my controllers. I can't even get off the ground. NC

    NC,

Re: DCS Tomcat: If you have the TM Warthog, the preset controller buttons are almost perfectly setup already. Just have to read what does what in the controls options menu. The reason stated by rvn817j above is the reason I've left P3D for military applications. DCS is lightyears beyond anything that P3D has to offer. Including carriers etc. It's not even a fair comparison. Even with all of DCS faults, it's hands down the best sim I've ever flown. The F-14 is the single best module for ANY sim I've ever seen. To compare it to something available in P3D isn't really possible. Nothing comes close. I mean, even the smallest immersion details have been thought of. Flying it with a real RIO operating the back seat is the most fun I've ever had in sim at any time, ever. Period. Nothing even comes close.

I don't know if there is a easy answer to the problem, but every time LM releases a update, it "breaks" a majority of 3rd party addons, so we then have to go through the process of uninstalling the addon, reinstalling and activating, etc..... I will have to start making a running list of my addons (a lengthy one at that), and ensuring I have the most current version of each addon in a separate directory. This is such a pain. NC For now, I am sticking to the current version. Already know TackPack ain't updated.

So I did it yesterday. Everything works as far as I can say, after updating most of my addons, which was due anyways for most of them.
I have to investigate into fps fluctuations though. Sometimes, as it seems when switching inside / outside views, the fps go down to around 4. After 5 to 10 seconds it is back at around 40 again. I am not sure if this is hotfix related though.

Updated 24 hours ago and no drama.
In the middle of building a new system from the ground up so I've been getting a few hours in before I transfer everything.
Always lost a few frames when panning around in heavy weather, not so much with this patch.
