    Some eclectic shots.

FIAT 508 Balilla, a classic little sports car that can't quite keep up with the MG.TC, but entertaining to drive.

By way of total contrast: The Duesenberg sj Phaeton LWB 'La Grande' Phaeton, between the wars class.

Ferrari 166 Inter, a post war classic.

The epitome of Detroit's vulgarity and lack of class: The 1958 Ford Thunderbird! Navigating it is like attempting to berth a Cruse Liner in a minor creek.

    The 'Kipper' appears!
Back in 1986 when we were in Adelaide for our second AGP of that era the reputation of this car was well and truly trashed.
Elio De Angelis had died during a test session mid-season and BMW had just about given up in the 'lay-down' engine.
Despite everything I have fond memories of the staggeringly loud earth shattering exhaust note...........

The HSS 1906 Renault 'Grand Prix' model.
Might go looking for a driver wearing Plus Fours, Harris Tweed jacket and a cloth cap (worn reversed of course).
Next project is the Alfa Romeo 8C Le Mans entrant while the top 'peoples choice' voted for will be the Maserati 8CLT.

Inspiration from a recent Jimmy Broadbent video: A Ferrari 2004 on 2022 tires. Broke my Zandvoort lap record easily. 1:07 something.

    This Corvette C8 Z06 is a beast:

Dragging another slow car round the Green Hell; a Seat 127 this time that has quite the tricky handling:

How can you turn your steering wheel without ripping the front wing appart?

Just enough space between the wheels and the wings. It worked very well for Ferrari back in 2004.

Weren't 2022 tyres supposed to be wider than any previous modern era F1 tyres?

Thanks for the HSS heads-up, Wombat! Looks like an interesting set of cars.

As for the size of the Streamliner: Yes it was a big car but not that big I think..

The wheelbase is just four centimeters longer than the Skoda in the back, it should be 25 centimeters lower but 1.65 meters longer. Wheel size is 22 inch in front and 24 on the back.

Good to know you like HSS Ferry: been working through several Patreon pages and some are good but most are very ordinary.
I decided to ante up for EX-MODS as some of their cars really appealed, A$40+ per month was a bit steep but I figured out how to work the system.
No way was I going this far for a couple of 'Special' Mods!!!!!

More so when most of their mods needed my (Fussy) input to bring them into the correct time frame.

Needless to say I binned my 'Patronage' once I worked out a way to solve the driver annoyances.
Now I know how 'Oddjob' will be replaced from the Bugatti (rapidly).
Next project on my agenda is attempting to solve the size of the drivers, what you mention about the Streamliner makes sense to me.

I do like the HSS mods, though the Renault is really hard to drive! No brakes and no steering at low speeds.. Do you have any unpaved track recommendations?
This Bugatti T59 is a real handful:

This Merc feels faster but is easier to get into a spin I think:

Something else: the Thomson Road Grand Prix track with one of legion's finest:

    Hi Ferry.

I'm looking through whatever clay or dirt US sprint car ovals I can find hoping that there might be some with an older look to the settings.
    Not much so far.
As a lot of the pre-1914 events were point to point races run on public roads I've settled on (temporarily) a few rally venues, still trialing any that look promising.
I do find these good to race on, oddly enough once you get past the initial 'modern' start stages things feel pretty good.

    At present I use the following: btbfin_kanniranni / sm_mymackyard / simtraxx_semetin / koenigslutter (???) / simtraxx_provence_alps.
Semetin is paved and a bit of a compromise but does duty for the 1920s until something better comes along.
'Mybackyard' has alternate routes which at least can form a longish gravel circuit or two but I'm unsure how a mixed grid will work.
Annoyingly the circuit in the works at HSS is a very early Indianapolis, could be interesting but we don't have a suitable Duesenberg or Miller to run it on!
Hope you can get these few into your system and have fun!

    Another peculiar 'Porsche Special'..........

Both the Moroccan and Croatian rally stages look and drive OK with the 1906 cars:

BTW Any idea why that Renault will not steer at all at lower speeds...?

BTW2 I also found out the cars do not have wheel brakes, just hand brakes..

This solved (most of) my braking issues.
I've rejigged the package since this initial setup, much tidier and opposite to this, with handbrake on the left of the shifter and the complete unit 'central' as IRL.

I found the Renault turned once I gave it heaps of power off the line, despite an 'exiting' launch.
Gave the 'Dakar Mexico' stage a brief test and it is not much good with these cars.
    Croatia looks worth a look.
I should have mentioned Battenberg as another 'exciting' paved circuit as well, especially driving the W25!

PS: 1) What numpty decided that all 'Black' is just right for PC peripherals, and (2), why are the supplied cables always only half the length needed for a tidy set up????? I did eventually get hold of much longer cables to unclutter my desk!
PPS: Before I added the peripheral hand brake I used the L/H 'Flipper' as an ersatz brake, it was effective for me.

The Italia is something of a challenge.
It's big, sluggish and devoid of anything resembling braking!!!!!!
And the seating position is almost certain to cause a nose bleed.......
Early days of course so I'm not complaining.
I really think this is a definite case for two crew, the 'Paris to Peking' configuration (300+ litre fuel tank!!!!) is not much use without a riding mechanic.
