    Runtime Error

Even after a complete reinstallation of the full program, no payware installed, basically free of any outside influences (I would have assumed). . .I still get this:

1/10th of a second after this happened the sim had a fatal error and closed. Anyone have any suggestions? Very frustrating!!

    Hi Ed
I was looking over at the Prepar3D forum and found a few discussions about this kind of error - one of the few I haven't had. Most of the talk is about a corrupt file somewhere and advice about running SCANNOW through the command prompt. Might also be worth a post or search over there.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

I ran "scannow" and to be honest, even with the logs to peruse, it's difficult to weed out what it found and what it fixed if anything. I also ran a "chkdsk /F" on all drives but no bad sectors, corrupt files were found.

One thing that remains on my mind is that I went from Win7 to Win10. I can't help but think, after reading the CBS.log file, that there isn't some portion of Win7 still lingering and causing problems. . . .or that Win10 is simply the cause of all the problems I'm having with Flight Sim.

Have you tried to reinstall or repair your Net.Framework installs? Looks like version 4 is either corrupt or missing.
This tool fixed mine a while back: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=30135

Thanks, ran it and all it came up with was that it was unable to correct the problem. I tried downloading and running the current V4.6.1 but it simply says it's already installed and won't run. It doesn't display in Control Panel, so I can't uninstall it in order to try to install again, lol.

. . .and this is how my life goes, lol

UPDATE: I downloaded and installed .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool which verified that all versions installed on my PC were operating correctly.

I'm a bit worried about the chkdsk that found some errors and that other tool that couldn't solve the problem it found.
However, I don't think Win10 has anything to do with your problem.

You said you just did a fresh reinstall of the sim, with no payware addons installed yet. However, have you installed anything freeware so far ?
From the few messages about that 1026 error I found, it seems some scenery or AI traffic could be the origin of the problem, sometimes.

The only aircraft installed right now are freeware airplanes. I am going through those now and eliminating any portovers. I do have AI aircraft of my own design and those are being eliminated as well. As for Scenery. . .other than Orbx and my own airports there are no other sceneries installed.

Since I'm running Win10 .NET Framework is a system installed component and cannot be independently uninstalled or updated. That is done through the Windows Update function. Apparently 4.6.2 or higher is already installed. Yet, I still continue to get "Runtime Errors" on what are basically stripped versions of P3D/FSX. It is becoming more and more irritating when I consider that soon I will either have to learn to put up with flying til the sim locks up or completely Formatting all three drives. . .reinstalling Win7 (I still blame some of this on Win10) and starting over from scratch.

I think you really can rule out Win10, if it was a clean install. With upgraded versions I'm not so sure. I run P3D on a very complex Win10 installation and never had a problem with P3D, or with any other application.

Where did you install P3D and in which context does it run? Event ID 1026 is an access violation. You could try to run p3d in the administrator context (run as...) , and should verify that you also install p3d as admin and preferrably in a non UAC controlled program folder (make your own, like "programs_non_uac" parallel to the other program folders), or on a separate hdd.

    Mark,
My Win10 Installation was not a "clean" installation but an upgrade. Both P3D and FSX are on separate HDD and both have been running as Administrator since before I went to Win10. UAC has always been the first thing I turn off when installing a new OS.

One thing I am doing now is going back over every scenery I have built and that is currently active (or will be if I can ever figure this out. Right now no addon scenery is active other than Orbx) to see if there are any faults I missed. I have found in the past that orphan Parking Spots or links will cause CTD problems and I have found several that fit that scenario.

Just to recap. . .I finally uninstalled everything related to P3D and FSX. I did not save any portions of it to "stick" back in after the new installation. All scenery, airplanes, gauges, effects, sounds were scraped. All controller settings, scenery cfg's, dll's, xml's. . .everything gone. I ran CCleaner several times then did searches manually through the Registry several times. . .leaving nothing to chance. I then defraged and optimized the two drives that had housed the FSX and P3D programs and finally rebooted.

I installed P3D_V3.4.22.19868 in it's entirety on a different drive than it's previous installation. I flew a short flight, shut it down and defraged/reboot. I added one freeware/native FSX aircraft and flew a short flight, Ops chk OK, deactivated that one and replaced it with another. . .short flight, Ops chk ok, and so on. If I had a problem with an airplane it was deleted (no matter if it was a favorite or not). . .tired of constant lock ups and fatal errors.

For scenery, I installed only Orbx Basic, Global Vector and Global LC. I have regions and individual airports but those are not installed yet, no big hurry to do that as I rarely use them. I then selected 5 airports of mine from the Long Island sound area and installed them. I ran each airport through ADE one more time to ensure there were no faults (orphan nodes, links, parking spots "will" cause problems). Once everything checked I flew that area and had no problems during an hour and thirty minute flight.

Finally I installed FSUIPC (registered version). FSX Installation and testing has followed the same process and thus far I have had no problems.
