This is a representation of RAF Down Ampney airfield as it would have been during the D-Day operation "Overlord" against Normandy in 1944. Included is the base scenery, .mdl buildings and an AFCAD for the airfield. AI aircraft are also included of C-47's to bring the airfield to life. Static Horsa gliders litter the airfield. This scenery Shows these stations as they were in there prime, Before hand overs and defense cuts reduced the strength of the Fleet Air Arm leaving only Yeovilton and Culdrose, and almost ending Navy fixed wing flying altogether. These Shore bases were home to the Royal Navy's Rotary and fixed wing fleets that Included the Phantom FG.1, Blackburn Buccaneer and the Westland Wessex. By Ian Elliot and Justin Hook.
