I am hoping this is also a signal that their SR-71A is not too far from release. I have spent a good deal of time on the Facebook pages run by Linda Sheffield Miller (daughter of Col. Richard "Butch" Sheffield) and am all primed up about trying that model out when it is done.

Hi Fibber, Yes, it's excellent. Looking at the photos and Ian's models, you can see he's made faithful reproductions of the Manston buildings.

(RE: FSEconomy) It's a free online "mission" system that offers a bit of a "structure" to MSFS. You can engage with it really casually, just looking for interesting places to fly, or get hardcore into it and run virtual FBOs and join groups with friends. www.fseconomy.net I've flown Flight Sim for 40 years now (!!!!) without a need or desire for structure. But I've learned that FSEconomy is fun because finding missions to fly gets me to explore areas and airports I'd never think of otherwise! Some screenshots to illustrate, to stay on-topic. :) The Nebraska sandhills! Really cool formations I ended up reading about online after encountering them by chance. I'd never flown around Nebraska before.

Not sure how the art files work, but it it possible to tweak the actual instrument faces on the Norseman? People complained about the dark panel, but the light panel background shows the actual readability issue is the lack of contrast between the markings on the instruments and the background. Looking at period photos of the real Norseman, the instruments have much more contrast between the white markings and the dark background. Someone could improve things a lot just by improving the contrast on the instrument faces. But not sure if that's a matter of finding an image file and changing the dark/light levels, or the much more complicated task of editing the actual instrument coding.

I contacted Alex Vtlas (Simworks) this morning about the status of their Phantom. He told me that all they've done thus far is to port the files over, so eventually they can begin working on it. No set time frame for even that at this point. He told me, quote, "You can see it in the hangar or runway, but it flies like a Mooney Bravo. It just looks more ballsy." End quote. All for now! NC

Great news. Now if we only had a Blackbird T-38A and a U-2R/S/T to go with it, we'd have a whole "mission set". Kent

I noticed in the sim that the Morgantown Airport Logos on the rear of the terminal are flickering because I didn't do them properly...jpg texture on rectangles not png's on the building itself. I fixed that last night and sent it on to the airport manager for final approval. He said everything was great except the stairs so although I am limited by the landscaping in the simulators, I am removing the stairs and then it will be done. Then onto the tower, firehouse and custom not default hangers since I found a way to get around the airport on the ground in Google Earth enough to see them to construct accurately. Quoting the old motto of TGYC GiJoes, Easy Company and Parris Island Creations of "long ago": We do it right or we don't do it. So default tower and hangers go.
