Agreed of course but in this case a LOT of screenshots of the forthcoming F4 are posted on the JF site with which the nose section is always in view and i just can't see any sign of zoom related distortion in any of 'em. I think one of the most impressive screenies might be this one : One look at the nose in this particular shot only is enough for a 'connaisseur' to decide if there's something wrong with the shape of the nose or not. Not posting a comparison shot of the real one here because we don't want to start that again but if need be : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:F-4J_and_SH-3G_on_USS_America_(CVA-66)_1972-73.JPEG For me, case is clear. :)

Well, I fixed the voice issue, but darned if I know how. Troubleshooting/fix steps: Move entire contents of Community folder to another location, then add Spartan back in. Start sim and test - have male voice with ATC. Move rest of Community folder back into place. Restart sim and test. Expect female voice. NOPE! Now I get the male voice like normal.

Just finished watching the 34th Annual Memorial Day Tribute Concert on PBS which aired live yesterday. It was really fantastic so if you can still get it on your PBS station watch it. :applause:

I'm going to try again a little later with nothing in my Community folder except the Spartan and see what happens. If it's still happening, I'll contact the dev. Others on the official board have said that can't replicate the issue.

Cees, I don't FSX but this problem sounds very familiar in the older sims. :wiggle: The Skyhawk (if accurately modeled) has an unstable landing gear footprint. Imagine that you're looking down at the plane and you can see the three tires. It looks like a triangle. In this case, the triangle will look like its tall at the top and the base will be narrow. The Skyhawk also has a relatively high COG which doesn't help. Imagine sitting on a three legged stool with the same triangle at its base. :dizzy:

Geodetic airframe, twin engined - hmm, the only aircraft I can think of that fits the description and that we have in CFS3 is the Wellington... Did I win anything? :biggrin-new:

Thanks for the response! Yes, I thought it might be that the variable or something has changed over the years. Seeing "Copyright 2002" in the panel.cfg file was kind of a tip-off that it might not be up-to-date! I looked at the gauge xml files, and it looks like the variable changed from "Eng1 Oil Pressure" to "Eng Oil Pressure:1" (and so on for higher number engines) between FSX and P3D, so the engine model might be manipulating a variable that no longer exists. It doesn't seem to affect engine operation. If you are seeing the same behavior from the gauges, I'll just ignore them. August

My best friend attended and graduated from The Citadel in 1969 and commissioned as a USAF 2nd Lt. I was the FIRST to salute him after he was commissioned being fortunate to have my ship in drydock in Portsmouth, VA Navy Yard and get leave to attend his graduation. He was assigned to SAC Missile Installation until his Active Duty Obligation was completed. I went back to Vietnam in 1970 and then served 2 years in the Naval Reserve with a P3 Squadron at NAS Glenview. I was privileged to be commissioned as an officer of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps in 1980 and retired as a LCDR in 1993 after my final ACDUTRA aboard the USS Standley a CG out of San Diego Naval Station and participated in RIMPAC 1993. The Standley supported Desert Storm. :loyal:

The thing is, that "extreme" zoom? That's the default 50% zoom. Yes, I zoomed in closer than default, and it's an ultrawidescreen monitor, and those exaggerate the effect further. But until you get to the realm of 90% zoom, there's some distortion, which is my point. Until you either fly the plane, or actually see video of it that pans around the exterior, it's best to give the designers the benefit of the doubt. I rarely see even see experienced devs or marketing folks setting the zoom to the point where distortion is minimized when making screenshots. Anyway, the Phantom discussion is what made me think about pointing out the zoom issue, but I posted it here more thinking it's a good tip for people making screenshots. :) We can start a thread about best screenshot practices if we...
